(470) Received this 21.st Day of October 1768 of John Nicholason the sum of forty Pounds Sterling being the Consideration expressed in £40 Sterling the within Deed P.r Richard Davis Witness David Lynn Andrew Heugh Frederick County S.st Be it Remembered that on the 21.st Day of October 1768 the within Named Richard Davis came before us the Subscribers two of his Lordships Justices of the aforesaid County Court and acknowledged the within Instrument to be his Act and Deed and the Land and Premisses therein mentioned to be the Right and Estate of the within Named John Nicholason his Heirs and Assigns for ever And at the same Time came Sophia the wife of the said Richard Davis and being by us privately Examined out of the Hearing of her said Husband acknowledged her Right of Dower to the within land and Premisses to be the Right of the within John Nicholson his Heirs and Assigns and that she did the same of her free and Voluntary Consent without being thereto Compel'd by any Threats from her said Husband or fear of his Displeasure Taken and acknowledged before David Lynn Andrew Heugh I have Rec.d eight Shillings and eight pence half penny Ster.g for an Alienation Fine on the within Land November 10.th 1768 Bennet Allen Recorded the 16.th Day of November 1768 Examd This Indenture made this twenty fourth Day of October in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty eight Between Charles Hammond Son of John of Ann Arundel County Planter of the one part and Samuel Chase of the City of Annapolis Attorney at Law of the other part Witnesseth That the said Charles Hammond Son of John for and in Consideration of the sum of one hundred and thirty Pounds Current Money to him in Hand paid by the said Samuel Chase at or before the Sealing and Delivery of these presents the Receipt whereof the said Charles Hammond son of John doth hereby acknowledge and thereof and therefrom and of and from every part and parcel thereof doth by these presents clearly and absolutely acquit exonerate and discharge the said Samuel Chase his Heirs Executors and Administrators forever hath Granted Bargained sold Aliened Enfeoffed and Confirmed and by these presents he the said Charles Hammond Son of John for himself and his Heirs doth Grant Bargain Sell Alien Enfeoff and Confirm unto the said Samuel Chase his Heirs and Assigns for ever All that Tract or Parcel of Land called Hammonds Contrivance lying in Frederick County and containing by Patent to his Father John Hammond Son of Charles bearing Date the eleventh Day of August seventeen hundred and fifty three (Two) |
