357) party to the within Deed and acknowledged the same to be his Act and Deed and the Land and premisses therein mentioned to be the right and Estate of the within named John Sasser his Heirs and Assigns for ever and Anne the Wife of the said Benjamin Tasker being privately examined from her said Husband acknowledged the same and declared that she did it freely and voluntarily and without any menaces or threats of him or fear of his Displeasure according to the Act of Assembly in such cases made and provided Geo Steuart Recd of John Sasser the sum of thirteen shillings and five pence three farthings sterling for the use of the Lord Baltimore it being the Alienation fine on the within Land by Virtue of a Commission from Edward Lloyd Esq.r his s.d Lordships Agent & Receiver General J Brice Recorded the 5.th Day of January 1763 5½ sides Ex.d I George Maher as Clerk of the Prerogative Office do swear that I will not for Lucre or Malice delay any person or persons applying to me for any Business belonging to the Office I officiate in and that I will not directly or indirectly ask demand take or receive from or charge to any such person or persons to my own use Except my Sallary from my Principal any Fee or Reward whatsoever for any Service I shall do as Clerk of the said Office and also that in making out the Office Fees I will not wittingly or willingly charge other or higher Fees than Limitted by the Act Entitled an Act for Amending the Staple of Tobacco for preventing frauds in his Majestys Customs and for the Limitation of Officers Fees 7.th Jany 1768 Sworn to Before R Ghiselin Recorded the 7.th Day of January 1768 1¼ sides Ex.d Maryland Saint Marys County fs.t This Indenture made this seventh Day of August in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty seven Between Ignatius Joy and Athanasius Joy both of the Province and County aforesaid Planters of the one part and Athanasius Ford of the same Province and County aforesaid Merchant of the other part Witnesseth that the said Ignatius Joy and Athanasius Joy for and in Consideration of the sum of seventeen Pound Sterl.g to them in hand paid before the ensealing and delivery of these presents by the said Athanasius Ford the Receipt whereof they the Ignatius Joy and Athanasius Joy do hereby acknowledge themselves therewith fully satisfied and Contented and thereof and of every part and parcel (thereof) |
