       On the 22.d Day of October 1767 came before me the Subscriber one of his
       Lordships Provincial Justices the within named William Edmonston Richard
       Henderson and Thomas Johnson Jun.r and severally acknowledged the within
       Instrument of writing to be their Act and Deed and the Lands and Appurtenances
       therein mentioned to be the right and Estate of the said Richard Henderson his Heirs and
       Assigns forever according to the True intent and meaning of the within Deed and the
       Act of Assembly in such Case made and Provided

             This Indenture made this twenty first Day of Septem.r in the Year of our Lord
       one thousand seven hundred and sixty seven Between John Hawkins of Charles County
       and Dorothy his Wife one of the Daughters of peter Wood late of Charles County deceased
       John Baker of Frederick County and Judith his Wife one other of the Daughters of the
       said Peter Wood and William Wilson of Frederick County aforesaid and Charity his
       Wife one other of the Daughters of the said Peter Wood on the one part and William Cooke
       of the City of Annapolis of the other part Witnesseth that the said John Hawkins and
       Dorothy his wife John Baker and Judith his wife & William Wilson and Charity his
       wife for and in Consideration of the sum of five shillings sterling to them severally
       in Hand paid by the said William Cooke at or before the Ensealing and Delivery of
       these Presents the Receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged Have bargained and sold
       and by these Presents Do bargain and sell unto the said William Cooke all that parcel
       or Tract of Land called part of Saint Thomas lying Charles County containing by
       Estimation two hundred thirty one and an half Acres and also all that Tract or parcel
       of Land called Woods Addition to Saint Thomas lying in the said County containing by
       Estimation thirty Acres which said several parcels of Land were devised to the said
       Dorothy Judith and Charity by the aforesaid Peter Wood by the Name and Description of
       his Dwelling Plantation together with his Land adjoining and lying in Piles's Swamp in
       Charles County aforesaid   To have and to hold the said Lands and Premisses with
       the Appurtenances hereby bargained and sold or mentioned or intended to be hereby bargained
       and sold unto the said William Cooke his Executors Administrators and Assigns from the
       Day next before the Day of the Date of these presents for and during and unto the full
       end and Term of one whole Year from thence next ensuing and fully to be compleat and
       ended  To the Intent and Purpose that the said William Cooke may be the better enabled
