       John Brown of Ann Arundell County in the
       province of Maryland Planter of the one parte and
       Amos Garrett of the City of Annapolis in the province
       of Maryland Merchant of the other parte Wittnesseth
       that the said John Brown for and in consideration of
       the Quantity of Three Thousand pounds of Tobacco to
       the said John Brown in hand paid by the said Amos
       Garrett before the ensealing and Delivery hereof the
       Receipt whereof the said John Brown Doth hereby
       acknowledge and thereof and every parte and parcell
       thereof Doth hereby fully clearly and absolutely
       exonerate acquitt and Discharge him the said Amos
       Garrett his heires ex.rs and adm.rs Hath bargained sold     
       aliened enfeoffed and confirmed as by these presents he
       the said John Brown Doth for himselfe and his heires
       bargaine sell alien enfeoff and confirme unto the said
       Amos Garrett all and every the hereafter mentioned
       one halfe of a tract of Land &c.a called Ranters Ridge
       (the whole being Laid out for four hundred and fifteen
       acres) being the upper half containing two hundred and
       seven and a halfe acres which said Quantity of Acres
       by a certaine Deed Dated the eighth day of August
       1716 twixt the said John Brown of the one partie and
       Amos Garrett aforesaid of the other parte Indented
       Acknowledged and Recorded in the provinciall Land
       Records of this province Liber T P N.o 1 fo 389 is in the
       Close of said Deed Mentioned to be excepted out of
       the Lands then conveyed to the said Amos by the said
       John with all the appurtenances to the same or any
       of them belonging To Have and To Hold
       the uper half or Moyety of Ranters Ridge containing
       two hundred and seven and a half Acres of Land and
       premisses with all and singular the Woods underwoods
       fruit Trees Nurseries pastures Meadows houses and out
       houses &c.a unto him the said Amos his heires and assignes
       for ever And the said John Brown Doth for himself his
       heires ex.rs and adm.rs hereby covenant promise Grant
       and Agree to and with the said Amos Garrett his heires
       and assignes that he the said John Brown is at the
