191 heirs and Assignes for ever Hath given granted bargained sold aliened enfeoffed and Confirmed and by these presents he doth for him & his heirs Give grant bargaine sell ^alien^ enfeoffe and Confirme unto him the said Charles all these Severall tracts of land Negroes Feather bedds furniture and Cattle herein after more particularly described (Viz.t) All that tract or parcel of land lying in Baltemore County afd in Bush river on the south Side thereof Called Gods providence and Containing One hundred and forty Acres and by him the said Thomas purchased of one Charles Adams and also all that Twenty Acres joyning upon the said tract scituate as afd Called Adams Addition and by the said Thomas Chamberlain also by a deed duely executed purchased of the Said Charles Also two Negroes slaves the one a man aged thirty years or thereabouts and Called Sambo the other a woman aged forty years or thereabouts and Called by the name of Phillis also three feather bedds their furniture and all the house furniture of the s.d Thomas and twenty head of Cattle none under the age of three years togeather with all and singular the rights members and appur.a to the said two parcells of Land belonging or in any wise appertaining Togeather ^also^ with all and singular the Encrease of as well the Negroes as Cattle af.d To have and to hold the said ^lands^ negroes and other the bargained premises unto him the said Charles Carroll Esq.r his heirs and Assignes for ever to and for the only proper use and behoof of him the said Charles and his heirs and Assignes and to noe other use Intent or meaning whatsoever and the said Thomas Chamberlain doth by these presents for him and his heirs Covenant promise Grant and agree to and with him the Said Charles and his heirs that the said bargained premises & every of them are at the time of the ensealing and delivery of these presents Clear and free of and from all manner of Incumbrances whatsoever and that the same and every part thereof against all manner of persons whatsoever he will warr.t and defend unto him the said Charles Carroll his heirs and Assignes for ever Provided Nevertheless and it is the true Intent and meaning of these presents that if the s.d Tho.s Chamberlain his heirs Ex.rs or Adm.rs shall and will well and (truly) |
