17) Memorandum This 23.d day of Aug.t Anno Dom 1710 Came the above named Anthony Ivy and Anne his wife before me and acknowledged the above written to be their acts & deeds and that the Land and premises menconed in the within deed are y.e proper Right of him the said John Gresham to hold to him his heires & assignes for ever according to act of assembly &c Phile Loyd Just provn And at the same time came Ann wife of the s.d Anthony Ivy & being secretly Examined out of the hearing of her said Husband did fully Clearly & Voluntory Confess that she did Give up all her Right title Claime and demand whatsoever of in and to the w.thin Menconed Land & premises as p the above Instrument acknowledged without any fear threats or displeasure of her said Husband In Testimony whereof Phile Lloyd Just provn Oct.r 26.th 1710 Then reced of M.r John Gresham the sume of tenn shill sterl being for the allienacon fine of the within Land Char.les Carroll recorded Nov.r y.e 23.d 1710 2112 x.d This Indenture made the 23.d day of August in the ninth yeare of the Reigne of our Sovereigne Lady Anne by the Grace of God of Great Brittaine France & Ireland Queen defender of the faith &c Between John Wells of Queen Anns County Gent of the one part & John Gresham Jun.r of Ann Arundell County of the other part Witnesseth that the said John Wells for and in Consideration of the sume of thirteen Thousand pounds of tob.o to him paid by the s.d John Gresham at & before the ensealing and delivery of these pests the receipt whereof the said John Wells doth acknowledge & by these presents for ever acquitt exonerate & discharge the said John Gresham his heires & assignes for ever by these presents hath Given granted bargained sold enfeoffed and confirmed & by these pests doth give grant bargaine sell enfeoff & confirme unto the said John Gresham his heires & assignes for ever all that pcell or tract of Land called Mothers Gift Lying on the north side of Chester River in Kent County Begining at a marked white oake standing on a point on the east side of a Creeke Called Burresses Creeke and runing from the s.d tree easterly bounding w.th teh said River one hundred & fifty pches and from thence w.th a Line Drawn north three hundred and twenty pches and from thence (w.th) |
