529 be paid unto the said James Dick his Heirs or Assigns the aforesaid sum of Five hundred and thirty seven pounds thirteen shillings sterling with the Legal Interest thereon accruing or arising due according to the true Intent and meaning of the Penal Bond on the first day of August next ensuing the date hereof then this Indenture shall cease and become absolutely void and farther the said William Brown doth hereby Oblige himself his Heirs and Executors well and truly to pay or Cause to be paid to the said James Dick his Heirs and Assigns the aforesaid sum of five hundred and thirty seven pounds thirteen shillings sterling on the aforesaid first day of August next ensuing with Legal Interest thereon In witness whereof the said William Brown hath hereunto set his Hand and Affixed his seal the day and year first above written, W.m Brown seal sealed and Delivered in the presence of the word remain being first interlined between the 8.th and North line Geo Steuart, Anthony Stewart On the back of the aforegoing Deed it is this written Viz.t Received from ^of^ M.r James Dick the sum of Five shillings sterling being the Consideration within mentioned William Brown Geo Steuart Anthony Steuart March 28.th 1765 Then came the within named William Brown before me one of his Lordships Justices of the Provincial Court for the Province of Maryland and acknowledged the within Instrument of writing to be his Act and Deed and the Lotts Negroes and other Chattles therein mentioned to be the Right and Estate of the within mentioned James Dick his heirs and Assigns for ever according to the true intent and meaning of the said Deed and agreeable to an Act of Assembly in that Case made and provided And at same time came Ann the wife of the said William who being privately examined out of the hearing of her said Husband and freely relinquished her Dower in the within mentioned Lotts and parcells of Ground and acknowledged that she did it voluntarily without being compelled thereto by ill usage or threats of her said Husband or for fear of incurring his displeasure Geo Steuart Recorded the 28.th day of March 1765 10 Ex.d This Indenture made the twenty sixth day of March in the year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and sixty five Between Joseph Gill of Dorchester County Merchant of the one part and John Stewart and Duncan Campbell of London Merchants of the other part Whereas by Indenture bearing date on or about the Tenth day of March seventeen hundred and sixty four Between the aforesaid Joseph Gill of the one part and Thomas and William Ringgold of the other part the said Joseph Gill did grant bargain and sell unto the said Thomas and William Ringgold for the Consideration therein mentioned a Tract or parcel of Land called Long Range containing Two hundred and Twenty five Acres situate lying and being in Dorchester County To have and to hold the said Tract of Land unto the said Thomas and William Ringgold their heirs and Assigns for ever under a Provisoe or Condition Nevertheless to be void on the payment of the Consideration Money and Interest at a Certain Day |
