50. I hereby assign all my Right and Title and Interest of the within Certificate for thirty eight Acres of Land called Taylorsburgh from me & my Heirs for ever to Lucy Watson & her heirs as Witness my hand this sixth day of October One thousand seven hundred & forty one Michael Taylor Test John Bell Jun.r On the back of the said Certificate are indorsed the following Words Viz.t September Seventh One thousand seven hundred and forty two Examined & past B Young Examiner Ever since the Assignment of the Certificate afd being the sixth day of October One thousand seven hundred & forty one the said Lucy Watson has been in quiet and peaceable possession of the said Land and has built a House on and paid quit rents & Land Tax for the same but on her application to the Judges of the Land Office for a Patent to Issue to her the said Lucy Watson for the said Land on the Certificate assigned to her as afores.d she the said Lucy Watson found that a Patent had Issued of Course to and in the Name of the said Michael Taylor on the Certificate that had been returned by the surveyor into the Land Office but without the Privity and Consent of the said Michael Taylor as he the said Michael Taylor never took the said Patent out of the Land Office for the said Patent is now in the possession of her the said Lucy Watson And as he the said Michael Taylor soon after the assignment of the certificate for the person as aforesaid left the Province and went to some of the West India Islands from whence he never returned but there died as she the said Lucy Watson was Informed and she the said Lucy Watson paid to the Widow of the said Michael Taylor Margaret Taylor the sum of Five pounds Currency in Consideration of her Right of Dower to the said Land as appears by a receipt for the same in the following Words Viz March fourteenth One Thousand Seven hundred & forty two Then Received of M.rs Lucy Watson the Sum of three Pounds Eighteen shillings and Six Pence being Part of Five Pounds Paper Currency due to me the Subscriber Margret Taylor Witness Thomas Butler and on the back of the said Receipt is wrote the following Words to Wit " The Three Pounds Eighteen Shillings and Six Pence Money within mentioned was paid M.rs Taylor the subscriber to the within Receipt by the within Mentioned M.rs Watson for her Right of Dower to Taylorsburgh as Witness my hand August Twenty Ninth One Thousand seven hundred and Fifty two Thomas Butler From all these Circumstances of the said Michael Taylors leaving the Province of Maryland & dieing abroad & leaving his Heirs Minors the said Lucy Watson (tho' she has been in quiet Possession |
