479. On the seventh day of November 1764 Came before me the Subscriber one of his Lordships Provincial Justices Mary the Wife of the said William Pinkston and being by me Privately examined apart and out of the hearing of her said Husband did release and declare that She did by this ^her^ Acknowledgment intend to release all her Right and Title of Dower of in and to the within Land and Premises within mentioned to the within named Thomas Johnson Junior his Heirs and Assigns forever and did also declare and Acknowledge that She made such her release and Acknowledgment Voluntarily and freely without being induced thereto by fears or Threats of or ill Usage from her said Husband or through fear of his Displeasure According to the Act of Assembly in such Case made and Provided John Darnall Recorded the 21.st December 1764 Vide thir Deed Recorded in this Book folio 434 This Indenture made this sixth day of October in the Year of our Lord God One thousand seven hundred and Sixty four Between Cassandra Smith of Calvert County in the Province of Maryland Widow of the one Part and Cassandra Tanyhill of the County and Province aforesaid Grand Daughter of the said Cassandra Smith of the other Part Witnesseth that the said Cassandra Smith as well for and in Consideration of the Natural Love and Affection which She the said Cassandra Smith hath and bear^e^th unto the said Cassandra Tanyhill as also for the better Maintainance livelyhood and Preferment of her the said Cassandra Tanyhill hath Given Granted Aliened enfeoffed and Confirmed and by these Presents doth Give Grant Alien enfeoff and Confirm unto the said Cassandra Tanyhill her Heirs and Assigns one Negro Child named Dyder To have and to hold the said Negro aforesaid unto the said Cassandra Tanyhill her Heirs and Assigns to the only Proper Use and behoof of her the said Cassandra Tanyhill her Heirs and Assigns forever And the said Cassandra Smith for herself her Heirs Executors and Administrators Doth Covenant and Grant to and with the said Cassandra Tanyhill her Heirs and Assigns by these Presents That She the said Cassandra Tanyhill her Heirs and Lawfully may from henceforth forever hereafter Peaceably and Quietly have holy Possess and enjoy the said Negro aforesaid hereby Granted free Clear and Discharged or well and Sufficiently saved and kept harmless of and from all former and other Grants bargains Sales Gifts entails and from all others (Titles) |
