102. On the Back of the aforegoing Deed was thus Written Viz Received on the day and Year first within Written of and from the within named Edward Pontenay the Sum of Five Shillings Sterling Money of Great Britain being the Consideration Money within mentioned to be by him Paid to me I say received by M.ab Helm 23.d September 1763 Then came before me the Subscriber one of his Lordships Justices of the Provincial Court the Within Named Mayberry Helms and Ann his Wife and Edward Pontenay and Severally Acknowledged the within Instrument of Writing to be their Act and Deed and the Lands and Premisses therein Specified to be the Right and Estate of the Parties therein Mentioned for life and in fee according to the true intent and Meaning thereof Also Ann the Wife of him the said Mayberry Helm being Privately Examined apart and from and out of the hearing of him the said Mayberry did repeat as above and did also further Declare that She made this Acknowledgment of her own Voluntary free Will without any threats or compulsion from her Said husband or fear of his displeasure B Hands Recorded the 29th day of September 1763 13 1/2 s.d L S James Campbells Mortgage to Mess.rs Maryland fs.t This Indenture Duty paid Geo Maxwell & John Phil Rich.d Findal Eden made this Twentieth day of June Anno Domini One Ex.d thousand seven hundred and sixty three between James Campbell of Charles County in the Province of Maryland Merchant of the one Part and George Maxwell of Charles County & John Eden of S.t Marys County in the Said Province Merchants of the other Part Witnesseth that the Said James Campbell for and in Consideration of the sum of One Thousand Pounds Sterling to him in hand paid by the said George Maxwell and John Eden the receipt whereof the said James |
