488) Sealed and Delivered On the Back of the aforegoing Mortgage in Presence of Us was thus Endorsed Viz.t J.a Creagh Reced the 16 April 1754 of W.m Torver Bartholomew Brian Philpot jun.r Pomeroy & Joseph Janson the Sum of Eighteen hundred Pounds Sterling Money of Great Britain being the Consideration Money within mentioned Pat Creagh Maryland the 16 April 1754 Then Came before me one of his Lordships Justices of the Provincial Court Patrick Creagh of Annapolis and acknowledged the within to be his Act and Deed for the Uses within mentioned according to an Act of Assembly in such Case made and Provided 12 Recorded Sept.r 11.th 1754 Geo Steuart Ex.d This Indenture made the twenty fourth day of June in the Year of Our Lord One thousand Seven hundred Fifty four Between Joseph Belt Junior of Prince Georges County & Province of Maryland Merchant of the One Part and Messieurs William Torver Bartholomew Pomeroy & Joseph Janson of London Merchants Assignees of Mess.rs John Philpot and John Hutchinson late Merchants of London of the other Part Witnesseth that the said Joseph Belt Junior for and in Consideration of Two thousand Pounds Sterling to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged Hath Given Granted Bargained sold assigned and made over And by these Presents Doth give grant Bargain sell assign and make over unto the said William Torver Bartholomew Pomeroy and Joseph Janson their Heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns for Ever All that Part of a Tract of Land called Cobriths Lott lying in Prince Georges County afores.d whereon the said Belt now Dwells containing by Estimation Two hundred & thirty Acres more or less together with the severall Dwelling Houses Outhouses and all other Improvements and Advantages to the same in any Manner belonging Also one other Tract of Land ^lying^ in Frederick County near Sennecar called Athany Containing Two hundred by Pattent and one other Tract of Land in Frederick County afores.d near the Mouth of Andeatum Run called Originally Granted unto John Hilleary for One hundred Acres of Land together with all and every improvement and Advantage in any Manner appertaining or belonging to each Tract or Parcell of Land afores.d Also all my half share of Trade and Debts in Partnership with William Murdock Esq.r hereby impowering the said Torver Pomeroy and Janson their Certain Attorney or Assigns in my Name to ask Demand sue for recover and acquittances to make of and for all my half share of every sum or sums of Money or Tobacco that now is or shall in any manner become due to my half share afores.d by a fair and final settlement of the Books and all Accounts relating to the said Trade and Partnership Yeilding and Granting my full Power and Authority touching or concerning the Sumes To Have and to hold all the before mentioned bargained premisses and every Part and Parcell thereof unto the said Torver Pomeroy & Janson their Heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns for Ever and to to the only Proper Use and behoof of them the s.d Torver Pomeroy and Janson and every of them Assignees of the aforesaid John Philpot and John Hutchinson and to and for no other use Intent Meaning or Construction whatsoever Provided Nevertheless and it is the true Intent and Material Agreement and Meaning of this Deed or Writing and Each and every party concerned named or to be Concerned herein that Whereas the said Joseph Belt became indebted unto the afs.d John Philpot and Johnson in Company for Goods and Money received from them (at) |
