       Court & on his Solemn Oath declared that he said Margaret Higginson
       sign Seal & Deliver the within power of Attorney as her Act and
       Deed

Ex.d This Indenture Made this twenty Eighth Day of February in the  
       Year of our Lord God One thousand Seven hundred & forty three
       Between Samuel Jenifer of S.t Marys County Son of Daniel & Elizabeth
       Jenifer of the one Part & Charles Carroll of Annapolis Esq.r of the other
       Part Witnesseth Whereas Daniel of S.t Thomas Jenifer & Elizabeth
       his Wife by their Indenture bearing Date August the twenty
       Second One thousand Seven hundred & twenty Two did for the
       Consideration therein Mentioned mortgage unto Charles Carroll
       Esq.r Ex.r of Charles Carroll Esq.r Deceased & Party to these Presents the
       Sundry Lands following Viz.t Five hundred Acres of Land called
       Johnson's Chance in Summerset County two hundred Acres Part
       of Preston Berrys point Part of Desert all lying in Calvert County
       Harvey Town containing about Fifty Acres & lying in S.t Marys
       County as also all other Lands Descended to the said Elizabeth by
       the Death of her Brother Nathaniel Ascomb under what
       Name & lying in what Place soever Now know yee that I
       Samuel Jenifer for & in Consideration of Five Shillings to me
       in hand paid by the said Charles Carroll the Receipt whereof
       I Do hereby acknowledge Do hereby remise release & for Ever
       quit claim of & to Johnson's Chance Part of Preston Berrys point
       Part of Desert Harvey Town as also to all other Lands Decended
       to the said Elizabeth by the Death of her Brother Nathaniel
       Ascomb under what Name & lying in what Place so ever & all
       other Lands mortgaged as af.d unto him the said Charles Carroll
       his Heirs & Assigns as Ex.r as af.d for Ever To have & to hold the
       said Tracts of Land Called Johnsons Chance Part of Preston Berrys
       Point Part of Desert Harvey Town also all other Lands Descended
       to the said Elizabeth by the Death of her Brother Nathaniel
       Ascomb under what Names & lying in what Place soever with
