x.d  This Indenture made the second Day of February Anno
       Domini seventeen hundred and thirty one Between W.m
       Chapman of Ann Arundell County Merchant Attorney in
       Fact of Phillip Smith of London Merchant of the one part
       and Charles Carroll Esq.r of Annapolis of the other part
       Whereas Thomas Taylor of Baltemore County Planter by his
       Deed of Bargain & Sale duely Executed and Recorded in Baltemore
       County Records bearing Date the Nineteenth day of May
       in the year of Our Lord seventeen hundred & twenty four for
       the Consideration therein Mencond sold and Conveyed unto the
       said Phillip Smith all that Tract or parcell of Land Lying in
       Baltemore County Called Cold Comfort Lying on the North Side
       of the Middle Branch of Patapsco River Containing within the
       Meetes and Bounds thereof in the said Deed Mencond & Expressed
       Fifty acres more or Less Also all that Tract or parcell of Land
       Called Rich Levell Lying on the North side of Patapsco River
       on the Branch Called the Middle Branch Containing by estimation
       within the Meets and Bounds thereof expressed in
       the said Deed one hundred acres more or Less also all that
       Tract or Parcell of Land Called Fox Hall surveyed for the said
       Thomas Taylor the twenty fifth day of January seventeen
       Hundred and Twenty Containing within the Meets & Bounds
       thereof in the said Deed Mencond one hundred acres more or
       Less also one man slave two white men servants about three
       years each to serve three Horses thirty Head of Cattle Forty
       Head of Hoggs Twenty head of sheep four Feather Beds and
       Furniture Five iron potts one iron Kettle five Pewter Dishes
       one Dozen plates one Oval Table two square Tables five chests
       Two Trunks Three frying panns two pewter Barons a parcel
       earthen ware six Tinn panns five cyder casks To have
       and to hold the Said Lands with their appurtenances to
       the said Phillip Smith his executors administrators or
       assignes upon Condition and Proviso that the said Deed should
       be void in Case the Said Thomas Taylor should pay the respective
       sums in the said Deed Mencond on the days & times
       of payment therein Expressed relation being to the Said
       Deed had may appear which payment were not Comply'd
       with according to the tenor of the said Deed so that the said
       Lands and Chattles became the Absolute property of him
       the said Phillip Smith Now this Indenture Witnesseth
       that the said William Chapman as attorney in Fact for the
       said Phillip Smith for and in Consideration of one
       Hundred and thirty pounds sterl to him in hand paid
       to and for the use of the said Phillip Smith by the Said
       Charles Carroll the receipt whereof the said William
       Chapman doth hereby acknowledge and the said Charles
