then at least sixty years of age or when he becomes sixty years of age,
a pension or salary calculated at the rate of [five] six hundred
dollars [$500.00)] ($600.00) per annum for each year or any part
thereof of active service by appointment and election as a judge of
said Municipal Court up to and including twenty years of such active
service, so that a maximum pension or salary for such service payable
hereunder to any one person shall not exceed the sum of [ten]
twelve thousand dollars [($10,000.00)] ($12,000.00) per annum.
Any former judge who accepts any salaried public office or position,
municipal, county, State or federal, shall not be paid any such pen-
sion or salary so long as he remains in any such office or position. No
pension shall be payable hereunder to any retired judge of the
Municipal Court of Baltimore City who is receiving another pension
under the employees' retirement system of the City of Baltimore, or
the Employees' Retirement System of the State of Maryland.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1967.

AN ACT to add a new Section 59B to Article 41 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1965 Replacement Volume and 1966 Supple-
ment), title "Governor—Executive and Administrative Depart-
ments," subtitle "Governor," to follow immediately after Section
59A thereof, to provide for recognition and acceptance of benefits
under the Federal Highway Safety Act of 1966, to empower the
Governor to perform duties and exercise responsibilities under
said Act and to accept federal funds thereunder, to provide for
acceptance of funds under said Act by political subdivisions, and
to designate duties and responsibilities of State officers and
agencies.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 59B be and it is hereby added to Article 41 of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1965 Replacement Volume and
1966 Supplement), title "Governor—Executive and Administrative
Departments," subtitle "Governor," to follow immediately after
Section 59A thereof, to read as follows:
59B.
(a) The State of Maryland hereby recognizes and accepts the
benefits of the act of Congress approved September 9, 1966, entitled
"Highway Safety Act of 1966" (Public Law 80-564), and the Gov-
ernor, in addition to other duties and responsibilities conferred upon
him by the constitution and laws of this State, is hereby empowered
to contract and to do all other things necessary in behalf of this
State to obtain the full benefits available, or those that hereafter
become available, to this State under the said Highway Safety Act
of 1966, and in so doing, to cooperate with State and Federal agen-
