CHAPTER 514

(Senate Bill 469)

AN ACT to add a new subsection IV to Section 264B of Article 27
of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition and 1966 Sup-
plement), title "Crimes and Punishments", subtitle "Crimes and
Punishments", subheading "Slot Machines", to follow immediately-
after subsection III thereof, to make it unlawful for the licensing
authorities of Calvert, Charles and St. Mary's Counties to charge
in excess of the pro-rata share of the license fee for such machines
up to the date such slot machines are required to be removed
pursuant to this section.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new subsection IV of Section 264B be and it is hereby added
to Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition and
1966 Supplement), title "Crimes and Punishments", subtitle "Crimes
and Punishments", subheading "Slot Machines", to follow immedi-
ately after subsection III thereof, and to read as follows:

264B.

IV. It shall be unlawful for the licensing authorities in Calvert,
Charles and St. Mary's Counties to charge a license fee for such slot
machines that shall exceed the pro-rata share of the license fee for
such slot machines up to the date such slot machines are required
to be removed by the provisions of this section.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect

June 1, 1967.

SEC. 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, THAT THIS ACT
IS HEREBY DECLARED TO BE AN EMERGENCY MEASURE
AND NECESSARY FOR THE IMMEDIATE PRESERVATION
OF THE PUBLIC HEALTH AND SAFETY AND HAVING BEEN
PASSED BY A YEA AND NAY VOTE SUPPORTED BY THREE-
FIFTHS OF ALL THE MEMBERS ELECTED TO EACH OF THE
TWO HOUSES OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY, THE SAME
SHALL TAKE EFFECT FROM THE DATE OF ITS PASSAGE.
