CHAPTER 235
(Senate Bill 353)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 40 (J)
AND SECTION 40 (u) of Article 10 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1965 Supplement), title "Attorneys at Laws and Attor-
neys in Fact", subtitle "State's Attorney", to increase the annual
salary paid to the State's Attorney of Talbot County- AND TO
THE STATE'S ATTORNEY OF DORCHESTER COUNTY.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 40 (J) AND SECTION 40 (u) of Article 10 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1965 Supplement), title "Attorneys
at Law and Attorneys in Fact", subtitle "State's Attorney", be and
it is THEY ARE hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments,
to read as follows:

40.

(J) IN DORCHESTER COUNTY, (1) THE STATE'S ATTOR-
NEY'S SALARY IS FIFTY-FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($5,500)
AND THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS SHALL PAY THE
OTHER REASONABLE EXPENSES OF HIS OFFICE, INCLUD-
ING REASONABLE RENT.

(2)   THE STATE'S ATTORNEY'S ALLOWANCE FOR CLERI-
CAL EXPENSES IS TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS ($2,000); AND
HIS ALLOWANCE FOR SECRETARIAL SERVICES IS TWELVE
HUNDRED DOLLARS ($1,200).

(3)   THE STATE'S ATTORNEY MAY FROM TIME TO TIME,
IF DEEMED WISE OR NECESSARY, WITH THE APPROVAL
OF THE JUDGE OF THE CIRCUIT COURT OF DORCHESTER
COUNTY, APPOINT A TEMPORARY ASSISTANT STATE'S
ATTORNEY FOR A PARTICULAR CASE OR SERIES OF
CASES AND MAY FIX HIS COMPENSATION.

(u) In Talbot County, (1) the State's Attorney's salary is [five
thousand dollars ($5,000).] six thousand five hundred dollars
($6,500.00).

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That the provisions of this
Act shall not be applicable to the State's Attorney ATTORNEYS
in office on the effective date of this Act, but these provisions shall
take effect with the next term of office.

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1966.
