498                              LAWS OF MARYLAND                      [CH. 237

"Crimes and Punishments", subtitle "Sabbath Breaking", to follow
immediately after Section 521 (e) thereof, generally amending the
laws concerning sabbath observances in Allegany County and to
certain retail sales made therein on any Sunday.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a new Section 521 (f) be and it is hereby added to Article 27
of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition and 1965 Supple-
ment), title "Crimes and Punishments", subtitle "Sabbath Break-
ing", to follow immediately after Section 521 (e) thereof, and to
read as follows:

521.

(f) In Allegany County this section shall not apply to or prohibit
retail sales on any Sunday by:

(1)  Food stores, drugstores, bakery or baked goods stores, news-
stands selling and/or delivering newspapers and periodicals, gasoline
service stations, nurseries or shops selling flowers and plants, or
roadside vending stands selling fruits, vegetables, or plants and
flowers; provided that, for the entire time during which any such
retail establishment is open on any Sunday, not more than three per-
sons, including any owner, manager, assistant manager, or delivery
personnel, are employed by the retail establishment or working
therein;
, REGARDLESS OF THE NUMBER OF LEASED DE-
PARTMENTS, CONCESSION AREAS, BOOTHS, OR STALLS
LOCATED THEREIN; and

(2)  Restaurants, lunchrooms, or ice-cream parlors.

No retail establishment referred to in this subsection may be open
for business on Sunday if it employs, or has working therein, more
than three persons, as set forth above, regardless of the number of

leased departments, concession areas, booths, or stalls located therein.

Any violation of this subsection shall be prosecuted as provided
for in subsection (c) of this section.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1966.

CHAPTER 237
(Senate Bill 392)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 187B
of Article 66½ of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1965 Sup-
plement), title "Motor Vehicles", subtitle "Operation of Vehicles
Upon Highways", authorizing the County Roads Board of Caro-
line County to regulate the speed of vehicles on certain thorough-
fares in Caroline County and relating to the payment of fines
for a conviction for violating any such regulation.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
