in the State of Maryland, and to use the materials in the con-
struction of the Elkton and Sassafras River Railroad; also to al-
low said Company to run their boats from Sassafras River to Bal-
timore ;

Which was read the first time and referred to the Committee
on Internal Improvements.

Also, the bill entitled, an act to incorporate the Elkton and
Sassafras Railroad Company;

Which was read the first time, and referred to the Committee
on Corporations.                               

Also, a bill entitled, an act to incorporate a Company to con-
struct a bridge across the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal and the
Potomac River, at Hancock, in Washington county;

Which was read the first time, and referred to the Committee
on Corporations.                       

The order of the evening being,

A bill entitled, a supplement to the act entitled, an act for the
promotion of Internal Improvement, passed at December session,
1835, chapter 395;

Mr. Merrick offered the following amendment:

Between the 29th and 30th lines, insert "it shall be satisfacto-
rily proven to said Treasurer by competent testimony, on oath,
that;"                                                           

Amendment assented to.
Mr. Whitby offered the following amendment:

Fill the first blank in the first section with "one hundred and
fifty thousand four hundred and twenty-five dollars, being the
proportional parts of Talbot and Caroline counties, of the balance
of the one million dollars appropriated for internal improvements
on the Eastern Shore."                     

Which was assented to.         

Mr. Timmons offered the following amendment:

Fill the second blank of first section with "six thousand two
hundred and seventeen shares."

Which was assented to.

Mr. Merrick moved to strike out the second section of said

bill;

Which was assented to.
