'54. A female engaged in vending millinery, or other small
articles of merchandise whose stock in trade does not at any
time during the year exceed three hundred dollars (five hun-
dred dollars) shall be entitled to license on paying therefor six
dollars, but if her stock in trade exceeds three hundred dollars
(five hundred) she shall pay the same rates as other persons,
the amount of her stock in trade to be ascertained by oath as
in other cases. ' "
"In Section 2, line 2, page 4 of the printed Bill, strike out
the words 'April 30, 1917, ' and insert in lieu thereof the words
'June 1, 1916. ' "

SUBJECT: SURPLUS REVENUE.
Amendment proposed by Committee: "Strike out all after
the words 'a Bill' and insert the following: 'Entitled an Act
to repeal Chapter 33 of the Acts of 1839, which requires the
Treasurer of the State of Maryland to substitute annually
the sum of $34, 069. 36 for the interest on the "Surplus Reve-
nue" received from the Federal Government, and apportion
same among the counties and the City of Baltimore for the
public schools.
'Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Chapter 33 of the Acts of 1839 be and the
same is hereby repealed.
'Sec. 2. Be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect August 1, 1916. '"

SUBJECT: PUBLIC ROADS—MEMBERSHIP OF STATE
ROADS COMMISSION.
Amendment proposed by Committee: "Strike out all after
the words 'a Bill' and insert the following in lieu thereof:
'Entitled an Act to repeal and re-enact, with amendments,
thereto, Section 33-A of Chapter 641 of the Acts of'1914, title
"Surveyor and State Survey, " sub-title "Public Roads''; the
object of this Bill being to eliminate three members of the
State Roads Commission, so that after the passage of this
Act the said State Roads Commission shall consist of only
three members.
