exceed one hundred and sixty thousand dollars, because the
estimated length of it is about twenty miles.
Resolved further, That said delegations are urged to report
said Bill as soon as practicable in order that this grand high-
way or boulevard may be quickly constructed for military and
naval purposes for the defense of Annapolis, Baltimore and
Washington, in case of a naval attack from the Chesapeake-
Bay, which "is practically Without fortifications, and in time
of war a public enemy would first of all seek the destruction
of these two points, and over a hard-surfaced road, with the
improved method of travel, assistance in time of strife could
be easily and quickly gotten for the protection of either point, "
as set out in said Resolution No. 7 of the Acts of the General
Assembly of Maryland of 1914.

REPORT OF COMMITTEE.
Mr. Williams, from Select Committee, reported favorably,
with amendment, Senate Bill No. 27, entitled "An Act to au-
thorize the President and Commissioners of Chesapeake City,
Maryland, to issue bonds to pay off the present indebtedness
of said town, growing out of a suit of Mrs. Josephine Pryor
and others, and to pay for improvements hereafter to be. made
in and to the said town of Chesapeake City at the direction
of the said the President and Commissioners of said town. "
Amendment proposed by Select Committee: "Strike out all
of Section 6. " [Which was laid over under the rules. ]
