and levies so adopted shall be signed by a majority of the County
Commissioners, certified by their clerk, and at least three copies
kept on record at the office of the County Commissioners, open to
public inspection during regular business hours throughout the fiscal
year in which it cavers, and said County Commissioners shall not
incur any obligation on the faith and credit of St. Mary's County
other than those items provided in the budget.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1959.

(Senate Bill 513)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 277 (m)
of Article 81 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition),
title "Revenue and Taxes", sub-title "Recordation Tax", relating
generally to the rate of the recordation tax in St. Mary's County.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 277 (m) of Article 81 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1957 Edition), title "Revenue and Taxes", sub-title "Recorda-
tion Tax", be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:
277.
(m). The rate of tax applicable to instruments recorded with the
clerk of the Circuit Court for Montgomery County and St. Mary's
County shall be as follows:
In the case of instruments conveying title to property, the tax
shall be at the rate of $1.10 for each $500 or fractional part thereof
of the actual consideration paid or to be paid; in the case of instru-
ments securing a debt, the tax shall be at the rate of $1.10 for each
$500 of the principal amount of the debt secured.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1959.
