tends to become a citizen of this state, as soon as the laws will
permit; therefore,
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That John Lane may take, acquire and hold any real property with-
in this state, as amply and fully and for the same estate as if he were
a citizen duly naturalized; Provided always, that the said John Lane
shall, within twelve months after he is capable of becoming a citizen
. naturalize himself agreeably to the laws of the United States.

Proviso.

2. And be it enacted. That if the said John Lane, shall die be-
fore the period herein allowed for his being naturalized, the real pro-
perty which he may have purchased or acquired, shall nevertheless
pass to his legal representatives in the same manner as if he had be-
come naturalized.

CHAPTER 65.

An Act for the benefit of Anthony Addison and Henry A. Callis.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
Doctor Joseph Kent, Doctor Clement Smith and George Semmes, of
Prince George's county, be, and they are hereby appointed Commis-
sioners to sell so much of Barnaby Manor, situated in said county,
as may be sufficient to discharge the debts due from Anthony Addi-
son and Henry A. Callis, at the time of the passage of this act.

22, 1823.

2. And be it enacted, That the said Commissioners shall, and they
are hereby directed and required as soon as conveniently may be af-
ter the passage of this act, to give notice by advertisement, to be in-
serted in two newspapers in the state of Maryland, and one in the
District of Columbia, to the creditors of the said Anthony Addison
and Henry A. Callis, to exhibit to the said commissioners, their
claims, supported by legal evidence, on or before the first day of
June next.

Notice.

3, And be it enacted, That the said commissioners shall, imme-
diately after the said first day of June next, proceed to sell such part
of Barnaby Manor, as may be sufficient to discharge the debts of the
said Anthony Addison and Henry A. Callis, which shall have been
proved to the satisfaction of the said commissioners, either at public
or private sale, as the said commissioners or a majority of them may
deem most advisable; and the said commissioners are authorised to
sell the land either for cash or on a credit not exceeding three years,
taking bond, in case credit be allowed, for the payment of the pur-
chase money, with interest from the day of sale.

4. And be it enacted, That the said commissioners shall, and they
are hereby authorised and required, on the payment of the purchase
money, to unite with the said Anthony Addison and Henry A. Cal-
lis, or the survivor of them, in a deed or deed? conveying to the pur-
chaser or purchasers, an estate in fee simple, in the land that shall
be sold by the said commissioners, and that all the right, title and
interest whatsoever of the State of Maryland, in and to the same,
shall be, and are hereby forever relinquished.

5. And be it enacted, That if any creditor of the said Anthony
Addison or Henry A. Callis, shall become a purchaser of any part
of the aforesaid land, the said commissioners are authorised and di-
rected, in conjunction with the said Anthony Addison and Henry A.
Callis, or the survivor of them, to execute a deed in the manner pre-
scribed by the fourth section, whenever the said creditor shall tender
to the said commissioners a release of his claim against said An-
thony Addison or Henry A. Callis.
