1820.

until it meets Charles-street, and thence with Charles-street to
the beginning, in trust for the said Thomas Chase, and Matilda
his wife, for their joint natural lives, and the life of the survivor,
and after their deaths for the use of the right heirs of the said
Thomas and Matilda Chase in fee simple: And whereas the said
Thomas Chase hath set forth, that he hath laid out and expended
large sums of money in the improvement of the said lot, in erect-
ing a dwelling house thereon, which by reason of the sudden and
great depreciation of his property he was unable fully to com-
plete and finish, by reason whereof it hath remained shut up and
unoccupied from that time, and thus has become an useless in-
cumbrance; And whereas it would be most beneficial to and ad-
vance the interest of all concerned in the said deed, if the said
Thomas Chase was empowered to sell the said property, and dis-
pose of the proceeds thereof for the benefit of all persons con-
cerned in the said deed: And whereas the said Richard Moale
Chase hath relinquished and renounced the said trust in the said
deed, and hath requested that the prayer of the said memorial
should he complied wit , which appears reasonable to this gene-
ral assembly; Therefore,

CHAP. 129.

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
said Thomas Chase be and he is hereby empowered, in execution
of the trust continued in the said deed, to sell the said property,
and to make a good and sufficient deed for the conveyance there-
of to the purchaser or purchasers, his or their heirs and assigns,
on their payment of the purchase money, with interest, and that
the said Thomas Chase be also empowered to receive the purchase
money, and to lay out the same in such manner as he may think
most advisable and most conducive to the advantage and interest
of the persons concerned in the fulfilment of the said trust.

2. Provided always, And be it enacted, That all and every part
of the properly to be purchased by the said Thomas Chase, with
or by means of the money to arise from the sale of the aforesaid
lot, shall be and remain subject to the trust created and expressed
in and by the said deed, and not otherwise; Provided always, that
nothing herein contained shall be construed to impair in any man-
ner, or affect the rights of creditors.

CHAP. CXXX.

An Act for the benefit of the Baltimore General Dispensaries.
1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
every Quaker, Menonist, or Tunker, and every person conscienti-
ously scrupulous of bearing arms, residing in the city of Balti-
more, who is, or who shall hereafter, be a contributor to the Bal-
timore General Dispensaries, and admitted as a member thereof,
within the meaning of the act, entitled, An act to incorporate the
contributors to the Baltimore General Dispensaries, shall, in vir-
tue thereof, and of this act, be released, exonerated and dischar-
ged, from the payment of all and every fine and sum of money,
for non-attendance at, or exemption from, militia duty, under the
laws of this state, during the time that be shall continue to be a
contributor to the said dispensaries during peace.
