and by a feigned issue or issues to be framed for that purpose,
try any fact or facts that may be thus put in issue, and finally to
decide on such appeal as to them shall seem just and equitable.

Lottery exempted
from tax.

Proviso.

CHAP CXXVII.

An Act to exempt a Lottery therein mentioned from the Tax imposed thereon.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
lottery authorised to be drawn by an act passed in seventeen
hundred and ninety six, chapter fifty -two, for the building a mar-
ket house in George Town, District of Columbia, and purchased
by the builders of Port Tobacco church, be and the same is here-
by exempted from the payment of the tax authorised by the laws
of this state to be claimed on the prizes drawn in this state; Pro-
vided, that the said lottery shall be liable, to a tax of one per
cent, to be secured and paid in the manner now required by law.

CHAP. CXXVIII.

A Supplement to an act to erect a Bridge over the Narrows of Kent Island, in
Queen Anne's County, passed December Session eighteen hundred and
nineteen.

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That from
and after the passage of this act, the commissioners appointed under
the act passed at December session eighteen hundred and nineteen,
entitled, An act to erect a bridge over the Narrows of Kent Island,
in Queen Anne's county, be and they are herein authorised, if in
their discretion they shall think proper, to finish the remaining part
of the passway over the said Narrows, in the same way, and upon
the plan they have commenced that part adjoining the main.

Levy authorised.

2. And be it enacted, That the levy court of Queen Anne's
county be and they are hereby authorised, to Ievy on the assessa-
ble property of said county, any sum not exceeding fifteen hun-
dred dollars, for the purpose of completing the passvvay over the
said Narrows, upon the plan they commenced that part ad-
joining the main, provided the commissioners should so deter-
mine.

3. And be it enacted, That John Denny and John Price be and
are hereby appointed commissioners, in addition to the commis-
sioners appointed in the act to which this is a supplement, with
the same powers and authority vested in the commissioners by
the original act and this supplement,

CHAP. CXXIX.

Passed Feb. 10, 1821.

Preamble.

An Act to empower Thomas Chase of Anne Arundel County, to sell the Pro-
perty therein mentioned.

WHEREAS the said Thomas Chase hath set forth in his memo-
rial to this general assembly, that his brother Samuel Chase, by
his deed bearing date on or about the thirtieth day of August
eighteen hundred and seventeen, at the instance and request of the
said Thomas Chase, did convey unto Richard Moale Chase a lot
of ground Iying in the said city of Baltimore, on Charles-street
extended, and contained within the following metes and bounds;
that is to say, beginning for the same at the intersection of Charles
and Chase-streets, and running thence and binding on the south
side of Chase-street one hundred and fifty feet, thence parallel
with Charles-street fifty feet, thence parallel with Chase-street
