CHAP. 99.

AN ACT authorising and empowering the Commission-

ers of Talbot County, to levy a sum of money for
building a Bridge over Knapp's Narrows, in said
County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly

of Maryland, That the County Commissioners of

Talbot county, be and they we hereby authorised and
empowered at their next annual levy, to levy on the
assessable properly of Talbot county, a sum sufficient in
their judgment to build a bridge over Knapp's Nar-

rows, from the main land to Tilghman's Island; Pro-

vided, however, that the said County Commissioners
shall determine that such bridge is requisite and neces-
sary for the convenience and wants of the citizens of
the said county.

Proviso.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That if the said County
Commissioners shall deem the building of such bridge
over Knapp's Narrows, expedient and proper, and de-
termine in favor of it, after having proceeded to levy the
money for building the same, the said commissioners
are hereby authorised and empowered to let the build-
ing of such bridge out at contract to such person or
persons, and on such terms as shall by them be
deemed the most advantageous and proper,

CHAPTER 99.

AN ACT to alter and amend the Charter of the New
York and Maryland Steam Skip Company, incorpora-
ted by an act entitled, an act to incorporate the New
York and Maryland Steam Ship Company, passed at
December Session eighteen hundred and forty-nine,
chapter two hundred and seventy-eight, and to autho-
rise said Company to divide their Capital Stock into
shares of one hundred dollars each, nominal value,
instead of one thousand dollars, as now required by
said act.
