CHAPTER 97.

AN ACT to repeal an act entitled, a supplement to an
act entitled, an act to rebuild or repair the old Jail in
Allegany County, passed at December Session eigh-
teen hundred and forty-nine, chapter five hundred and
two, and to empower the County Commissioners, to levy
an additional sum of money to build a new Jail in
said County.

Repealed.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly

of Maryland, That the act entitled, a supplement to
an act entitled, an act to rebuild or repair the old Jail
in Allegany county, passed at December session eigh-
teen hundred and forty-nine, chapter five hundred and
two, which said supplement authorises the commis-
sioners created by the original act, to purchase land,
whereon to erect a new Jail and to borrow money, and
also authorises the County Commissioners to levy the
additional sum of two thousand dollars, to be appro-
priated toward the building of said new Jail, be, and
the same is hereby repealed.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the County Com-
missioners of Allegany county, be and they are hereby
empowered to impose upon the assessable properly of
said county, the sum of two thousand dollars, in ad-
dition to the sum of four thousand dollars, authorised
by the original act, passed at December session eigh-
teen hundred and forty-nine, chapter three hundred
and ninety-six, to be applied towards erecting a new
Jail, if in the judgment of the said County Commis-
sioners, the said additional levy of two thousand dol-
lars shall be deemed necessary for the erection thereof.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That if the said Coun-
ty Commissioners shall in their judgment levy the said
two thousand dollars, it shall be assessed together with
an allowance to the collector, the same commission for
collection that he receives for collecting the other coun-
ty levy, which sum so assessed shall be collected by
the collector of Allegany county, as other county taxes
are collected, and when so collected, shall be paid
over to the commissioners created by the original act,
to be applied by them towards erecting a new Jail.
