CHAPTER 234.
An act to authorise the erection of a Bridge over the
Patuxent River, at Gaither's Ford, in Howard Dis-
trict, of Anne Arundel County, and Montgomery
County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That James B. Matthews and David Clarke
of Howard district of Anne Arundel county, and
Remas Riggs and Artemas Newline of Montgomery
county, be and they are hereby appointed commis-
sioners to contract for, superintend and direct the build-
ing of a bridge of suitable dimensions over the Patux-
ent river, at or near Gather's ford, and where the
Westminster road crosses said river in said district
and county, and the commissioners of Howard district
of Anne Arundel county, and Montgomery county afore-
said, are hereby authorised and required, upon receiv-
ing from the said commissioners an account of the cost
and charge of erecting said bridge, certified under the
hands and seals of said commissioners, with an affidavit
or affirmation of the truth thereof annexed, to levy on
the assessable property of the district and county afore-
said respectively one-half for each of the cost and

charge aforesaid; provided, the whole amount shall not
exceed three hundred dollars.

Proviso.
|
|
|
SEC. 2. And be it enacted. That if either of the
said commissioners shall die or refuse to act, the re-
maining commissioners shall appoint some other person
to fill the vacancy, and the person so appointed shall
have the same powers and authorities as are vested
in the said commissioners by this act.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That from and after passage of this act, John F. Ehlen, a
resident of the District of Columbia, upon his applica-
tion to the commissioners of insolvent debtors for Balti-
more city and county, and his compliance with all the
provisions of the laws of this State in relation to insol-
vent debtors, except making proof of his residence in
