CHAP. 237.

this State, shall be and he is hereby declared to be
entitled to the benefit of said insolvent laws, and on the
passage of this act it shall be lawful for him to prefer
his petition for that purpose, and relief shall be granted
him as fully and in the name manner as if he were a
citizen of the State of Maryland, any laws to the con-
trary notwithstanding.

CHAPTER 236.

March 9, 1848.

Capital stock
to be increased.

A supplement to an act entitled, an act to incorporate
the Baltimore and Southern Packet Company.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Baltimore and Southern Packet
Company, shall be and are hereby authorised to in-
crease the capital stock of said company to two hun-
dred and fifty thousand dollars, by new subscriptions or
by adding to the said capital semi-annually a portion of
their net profits not otherwise appropriated, whenever it
shall be so determined by the board of directors,

Inconsistent
acts repealed.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That so much of the second
section of the act to which this is a supplement, passed
at December session eighteen hundred and forty-five,
chapter two hundred and fifty-two, as limits the capital
stock of said company to one hundred thousand dollars,
be and the same is hereby repealed.

CHAPTER 237.

An act for the benefit of William H. Hooper, of the
City of Baltimore.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That William H. Hooper, of the city of Baltimore,
upon his application to the commissioners of insolvent
debtors for Baltimore city and county, be and he is
hereby entitled to all the benefits of the insolvent laws
of this State notwithstanding his application for the
benefit of the insolvent laws of Maryland within the

Proviso.

last two years; provided, in all other respects he shall
in all other respects comply with the provisions of the
