1846.

fond in fee simple or otherwise, to the amount of five
hundred acres, necessary to the conducting of the busi-
ness, and to erect thereon all needful buildings and im-
provements; that the capital stock of said corporation
shall be fifty thousand dollars, divided into shares of one
hundred dollars each.

CHAP. 140.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That, for the management
of the affairs of the company, the stockholders, or a ma-
jority of them, shall elect a president and not less than
four directors, who shall remain in office for one year, or
until successors shall be elected, a majority of whom
shall form a quorum or board; that a majority of stock-
holders shall at any time call a meeting, upon advising all
the stockholders, by advertisement, or otherwise, of the
time and place of holding said meeting.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the stock of said
company shall be deemed personal estate, and that all
the property, estate and joint stock of the corporation
shall be bound and answerable for its debts and liabilities.
SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That nothing contained
herein, shall be construed as granting banking privileges
to the said corporation, or exempting their property from
general taxation.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That the Legislature re-
selves to itself the right to alter or annul this act of in-
corporation whenever the public interest may require it.

CHAPTER 139.

ved.

An act in relation to the Clerk of the Court of Appeals
for the Western Shore of Maryland.

Passed Feb.
22, 1847.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the said clerk shall and may have until the twen-
tieth day of April, in each and every year, to send out
the fees to him accruing, for collection, to the several
sheriffs of this State.

CHAPTER 140.

ded.

An act providing for the building of a Clerks Office in
Culvert County.
