CHAPTER 17.

An act to allow Joel Thomas, former collector of taxes
in Queen Anne's County, further time to complete his
collections.

Authorised to
collect.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Joel Thomas, former collector of the
county taxes in Queen Anne's county, be and he is here-
by authorised to collect any and all county taxes or bal-
ances of county taxes due to him and now remaining un-
collected, for the several years in which he was collec-
tor of the county taxes in the said county, in the same
manner and with the same privileges and powers, he
could or might have done within the time limited by
law.

Annex affida-
vit.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said Joel Thomas,
before he proceeds to collect under and by virtue of this
act, shall make out and deliver to the person or persona
from whom any taxes or balances of taxes may be de-
manded, an account of the taxes or balances due from
such person or persons, and if the amount claimed be
disputed by the party, shall annex an affidavit that the
same is due and unpaid.

In force.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the authority hereby
given, shall continue until the first day of June, eighteen
hundred and forty seven, and no longer.

CHAPTER 18.

An act to complete the opening of a public road in Carroll
County, Maryland.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, by an act of the General Assembly of Ma-
ryland, passed at December session, one thousand eight
hundred and twenty-one, chapter one hundred and two,
that William Houck, Jacob Baughman and Richard
Hooker were appointed commissioners to lay out and
open a road from the corner of a lot of ground belong-
ing to William Houck to Nicholas Brown's Mill; and
whereas, the said commissioners have not fully laid out
and opened said road as directed by said act — therefore,

Commissioners

appointed.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That James Kelly, Joseph Bromwell and John B.
Chenoweth be, and they are hereby appointed commis-
sioners to open said road in as full and ample a manner
