shall be the same, as the duties, powers and liabilities of
the said five commissioners, granted and prescribed by the
said original act, and its several supplements; provided
nevertheless, that the said four commissioners appointed by
this act shall not be in any way bound, or liable in their
individual capacity for any debt or contracts heretofore due
or contracted or growing due by said acting commission
ers or any or them, for or on an account of the ground pur
chased and the buildings and improvements thereon, made
and erected for the use of said seminary and for when
said debt or debts or contracts, the said present acting
commissioners are individually bound or answerable.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the debts and
responsibilities of the present board of commissioners not
due or growing due, are hereby made a specific lien on
the ground purchased, and the buildings and improvements
thereon made and erected for the use of said seminary, in
favor of said commissioners, who are bound for said debts,
until the same are fully paid and satisfied, and the said lien
hereby created is for the benefit and protection of sad
commissioners, so far as they now stand bound or are in
any way individually answerable for said debts or con-

tracts.

CHAP. 28.

Proviso.

SEC. 3. And be it farther enacted. That in case the
commissioners or any of them, appointed in pursuance of
this act, shall refuse or neglect to execute his or their bond
as provided by the act, to which this supplement, or shall
decline to serve, on or before the first of April next ensu-
ing the passage of this act, the Governor shall proceed to
fill such vacancy or vacancies in the manner provided by
the original act to which this is a supplement.

CHAPTER 28.

 

A supplement to an act entiled, an act supplementary to an
act entitled, an act for the Preservation and repair of that
part of the United Stales Road within the limits of the
State of Maryland.

Passed Jan.
25, 1845.

SECTION I. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the superintendent of that portion, of the
United States Road within the limits of the State of Mary-
land, shall be annually appointed by the Governor by and
with the advice and consent of the Senate, and that his
salary shall be at the rate of five hundred dollars per an-
num, to be paid out of the tolls to be received on the
road.
