(House Bill 644)
AN ACT to authorize the Mayor and Common Council of
Riverdale to borrow not to exceed Eight Thousand
Dollars ($8,000.00) for the purpose of enlarging the
Fire House in the Town of Riverdale and to issue therefor
promissory notes or certificates of indebtedness upon
the faith and credit of the town and to provide for the
payment thereof within two years from the date of issue.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Mayor and Common Council of River-
dale, for the purpose of enlarging the Fire House in the
Town of Riverdale, are hereby authorized and empowered
in their discretion to borrow for such purpose upon the
faith and credit of the town not to exceed Eight Thousand
Dollars ($8,000.00), such sum or sums of money to be
payable at such time, not to exceed two years from the
date of the original loan, as the Mayor and Common Council
of Riverdale may agree upon with the lenders and with
interest not to exceed 4% per annum.
As evidence of the obligation authorized by this Act the
Mayor and Common Council of Riverdale are authorized
and empowered in their discretion to issue in the name of
and on the faith and credit of the Town of Riverdale
promissory notes or certificates of indebtedness which shall
become direct obligations of the town, and the Mayor and
Clerk to the Mayor and Common Council of Riverdale are
authorized on behalf of the town to sign such promissory
notes or certificates of indebtedness and to affix thereto
the official seal of the municipality.
The money borrowed pursuant to this Act shall be used
solely for the purpose authorized herein and shall be kept
