rate and independent accounting system for such public
school construction moneys.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1953.

CHAPTER 276
(Senate Bill 265)
AN ACT to authorize the State Roads Commission of
Maryland to acquire by purchase, condemnation, or
otherwise, the bridge across the Potomac River between
Williamsport, Maryland and Berkeley County, West Vir-
ginia, and to pay for same out of State Roads Commis-
sion Construction Funds or other funds in their
possession, and further authorizing the State Roads
Commission to impose and collect tolls for the use of
said bridge.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the State Roads Commission of Maryland be and it
is hereby authorized to acquire by purchase, condemna-
tion, or otherwise, the bridge or the stock evidencing
ownership of the bridge across the Potomac River between
Williamsport in Washington County, Maryland and Berke-
ley County, West Virginia, and said Commission is hereby
further authorized to pay the cost of acquiring said bridge
or the stock evidencing ownership of the bridge from Con-
struction Funds or other funds in its possession. Should
it be necessary, in the opinion of the State Roads Com-
mission, to acquire said bridge under the power of eminent
domain then and in that event the said Commission is
hereby authorized to proceed under the authority granted
in Article 33A of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951
Edition), or under the authority granted under the provi-
sions of Section 40B of Article 3 of the Constitution of
Maryland, and Article 89B of said code. The State Roads
Commission is hereby further authorized to impose and
collect tolls on said bridge after it acquires ownership of
