(1951 Edition), title "Motor Vehicles, " sub-title "opera-
tion of Vehicles Upon Highways, " requiring that all
motor vehicles WHICH ARE MOVING AT A CER-
TAIN RATE OF SPEED BELOW THE MAXIMUM
SPEED LIMIT shall be driven upon the extreme right
side of the roadway and upon adequate shoulders thereto
when provided.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 182 of Article 66½ of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Motor Vehicles, " sub-title
"Operation of Vehicles Upon Highways, " be and it is here-
by repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as
follows:
182. (A) (Drive on Right Side of Roadway—Excep-
tions. ) Upon all roadways of sufficient width a vehicle
shall be driven upon the right extreme [half] side of the
roadway, and where adequate shoulders are provided, then
upon the extreme right side of the shoulder, except as
follows:
(1) When overtaking and passing another vehicle pro-
ceeding in the same direction under the rules governing
such movement;
(2) When the right half of a roadway is closed to traffic
while under construction or repair;
(3) Upon a roadway divided into three marked lanes
for traffic under the rules applicable thereon; or
(4) Upon a roadway designated and sign posted for one-
way traffic.
(B) ANY VEHICLE MOVING AT A RATE OF
SPEED TEN MILES OR MORE BELOW THE MAXI-
MUM SPEED LIMIT APPLICABLE TO THE PARTICU-
LAR ROADWAY SHALL BE DRIVEN UPON THE
EXTREME RIGHT SIDE THEREOF, AND WHERE
SHOULDERS OR EXTENSIONS ARE PROVIDED,
THEN UPON THE EXTREME RIGHT SIDE OF THE
SHOULDER OR EXTENSION.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1953.
