SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1949.

CHAPTER 217
(Senate Bill 131)

AN ACT to add a new paragraph to Section 6 of Article 4
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland and the
Baltimore City Charter (1946 Edition), title "Baltimore
City, " sub-title "General Powers, " to be known as Para-
graph (14A) and to follow immediately after Paragraph
(14) of said section, authorizing the Mayor and City
Council of Baltimore to acquire, within the boundary
lines of Baltimore City, land and property of every kind,
including that already devoted to public use, by purchase,
lease, gift, condemnation or any other legal means, for
development or redevelopment, including but not limited
to, the comprehensive renovation or rehabilitation there-

of, with certain exceptions; to develop or redevelop, in-
cluding but not limited to, the comprehensive renovation
or rehabilitation of, any and all of said land or property;
to sell, lease, convey, transfer or otherwise dispose of
any of said land or property, regardless of its condition
or the manner or means in or by which it may have been
acquired, for development or redevelopment, including
but not limited to, the comprehensive renovation or re-
habilitation thereof; to preserve any of said land or
property for public use; to petition for, and accept from,
the United States of America, or the State of Maryland,
or any department or agency thereof, or any other
source, certain loans, grants or aid and execute contracts
and other legal instruments in connection therewith; to
require the insertion of certain provisions in any legal
instrument pertaining to the disposition of any of said
land or property; to vest jurisdiction or authority to ex-
ercise or perform certain powers in any existing agency
of, or in any new agency to be created by, the Mayor
and City Council of Baltimore; providing that certain
officers, officials or employees of the Mayor and City
Council of Baltimore shall not become financially inter-
ested in any of said land or property, or in any legal en-
tity, with certain exceptions, who may undertake to
develop or redevelop any of said land or property; de-
