SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1949.

CHAPTER 501
(Senate Bill 499)

AN ACT to authorize and direct the Board of County Com-
missioners of Caroline County to issue and sell serial
bonds upon the faith and credit of said County or other-
wise borrow upon the faith and credit of the County
from the "General Public School Construction Loan of
1949", an amount which when added to any other sums
available from the State or Federal Government will
aggregate Seven Hundred and Fifty Thousand Dollars
($750, 000. 00) in the amount of Seven Hundred and
Fifty Thousand Dollars ($750, 000. 00) for the purpose of
building new school-houses, the construction of addi-
tions to existing school houses, or altering or repairing
the same, and for equipping such new or existing school-
houses, or for matching Federal or State funds for the
above purposes: and providing for submitting to the
voters of Caroline County the question of issuance of
said bonds, or the participation in the "General Public
School Construction Loan of 1949; and authorizing the
Board of County Commissioners of Caroline County to
levy taxes on the assessable property in said County to
provide funds for the payment of interest and principal
as the same become payable.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the Board of County Commissioners of Caroline
County be and it is hereby authorized and directed to bor-
row at one time, or from time to time, upon the faith and
credit of Caroline County from the "General Public School
Construction Loan of 1949" or by the issuance of bonds as
provided for in this Act, an amount which when added to
any other available State or Federal funds shall equal
Seven Hundred and Fifty Thousand Dollars ($750, 000. 00)
for the purpose of building new school-houses, the con-
struction of additions to existing school-houses, or altering
or repairing the same, and for equipping such new or
existing school-houses, or for architects and other profes-
sional fees in connection with said buildings, alterations,
repairs or equipment, at the following locations in Caroline
