1860.

this is an amendment and construct the same from
some convenient point on the north avenue of Bal-
timore city, between the west side of the Charles
street avenue and the easternmost side of the Har-
ford turnpike and extending in a northwardly di-
rection to Towsontown.

CHAP. 293.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That whenever in the
construction of said road or roads, it shall be neces-
sary to cross, intersect or use any highway, street
or public or private road or avenue, it shall be the
duty of said company so to construct said plank
rail and gravel road or roads as not to impede the
passage or transportation of persons or property
along any such highway, street or avenue.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That said company
shall have power to charge for the transportation
of passengers not exceeding five cents per mile,
and the same sum for any distance less than a mile
for each passenger.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the day of its passage.

CHAPTER 293.

In force.

AN ACT to authorise the Baltimore and Ohio
Railroad Company, to subscribe to the capital
stock of the Baltimore and Potomac Railroad
Company.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the Baltimore and Ohio Rail-
road Company, be and they are hereby authorised

and empowered, if at any time hereafter they may
deem it advantageous to their company to do so,
to subscribe to the capital stock of the Baltimore
and Potomac Railroad Company.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That a majority of
the directors in the Baltimore and Potomac Road
Company, shall be citizens of the county through
which the said road shall pass.
