SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section to Article 58 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Live Stock", sub-title
"Driving on Improved Highways", said new section to be
known as Section 54 and to follow immediately after Section
53 of said Article, be and it is hereby added, to read as
follows:
54. At the request of any farmer whose land is divided by
a highway, and who regularly drives live stock across such
highway, the State Roads Commissioner may erect, at an
approximate distance of five hundred (500) feet from each
side of such crossing, a sign giving notice of the presence of
such crossing. When live stock are being driven across such
highway, vehicles between the two signs shall stop until the
live stock have crossed the highway.
Any person found guilty of violating this Section shall be
guilty of a misdemeanor and fined not more than Ten Dollars
($10. 00) for each offense.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1941.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 30
of Article 36 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939
Edition), title "Fees of Officers", sub-title "Sheriffs", relat-
ing to the poundage fees of sheriffs.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 30 of Article 36 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Fees of Officers", sub-title
"Sheriffs", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:
30. The sheriff shall have as poundage fees for levying an
execution at the rate of seven and a half per cent, on the first
twenty-six dollars, and sixty-seven cents, and at the rate of
three per cent, on the residue but if execution be laid on any
interest in lands only one-half of the poundage fees shall be
charged, and if laid upon lands and the lands be not sold by
