(4) The instruction cars hereinafter referred to, if used, shall
be furnished, maintained and insured by the Department of
Maryland State Police unless the respective Boards of Educa-
tion make other provisions therefor. They shall be of recent
manufacture and, during instruction periods, shall bear a red
flag clearly visible from both front and rear.
(5) Actual driving experience may be under the immediate
supervision of a member of the Maryland State Police Force,
in the discretion of the Superintendent of said Force, in regu-
lar uniform, in an instruction car, and provision may also be
made for supervision under the local County or municipal
police, or under a teacher.
(6) The actual driving instruction shall be conducted, if
practicable, on private or public property removed from State
roads; if impracticable, then, at the request of the County
Board of Education, the State Roads Commission shall desig-
nate a suitable section of road near the school to be used for
such instruction. Such section of road shall be marked with
signs (to be supplied by the State Roads Commission) giving
notice of its use for driving instruction. Such signs shall be
removed at the close of the instruction period.
No vehicle shall be operated between such signs at a speed
in excess of twenty (20) miles per hour. Any person found
guilty of violating this limit shall, upon conviction, be deemed
guilty of a misdemeanor and fined not more than Seventy-
Five Dollars ($75. 00).
(7) The instruction herein provided for may be given
either as a separate course or as part of another course.
(8) The principal of each school offering such course shall
so arrange the time set aside for actual driving instruction
as not to interfere with other school work.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1941.

(House Bill 193)
AN ACT to add a new section to Article 58 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Live Stock", sub-
title "Driving on Improved Highways", said new section to
be known as Section 54 and to follow immediately after
Section 53 of said Article, relating to highway crossings
for live stock.
