BUDGET OF THE STATE ROADS COMMISSION OF MARYLAND FOR THE BIENNIUM 1942-1943

the amounts herein set forth, then such excess shall

not revert to the G-eneral Fund of the State, but

shall be set over to the use of the State Roads

Commission to be allotted by subsequent Legis-
lative action, in like manner as the sums hereby

requested. It is likewise hereby further provided

that the whole or so much of this fund as may be

required, shall be expended by the Commission in

the relocation of roads, for the purpose of accom-
plishing the elimination of grade crossings, the

reconstruction and relocation of bridge structures

and/or the construction or reconstruction of major

projects on the State System of Roads.

DEDICATION OF EXCESS GASOLINE TAX, %

Cent for the Fiscal Years 1939 and 1940:
To the State Roads Commission: The amount herein

dedicated represents the excess gasoline tax c.

receipts over the amount provided in the Budget

for the fiscal year 1939 amounting to $102,245.53,

and for the fiscal year 1940 amounting to

$58,234.02. It is the intention hereby to have

dedicated the sum of $160,479.55 to the use of the

State Roads Commission to be applied in the same

manner and for the same purposes that 80% of

the %c. Gasoline Tax for the year 1942 and 1943

is appropriated to the State Roads Commission.

It is further the intention to release for the use

of the State Roads Commission, the sum herein

provided whenever, in the opinion of the State

Roads Commission from the viewpoint of a sound

financial policy, it is most expeditious to expend

this sum, the total, however, to be applied before

September 30, 1943.

To the State Roads Commission: It is hereby further
authorized that in the event the product of 80% of
the %c. Gasoline Tax for the fiscal year 1940 should
exceed the amount set forth in the Budget appli-
cable to that year, then such excess is likewise to
be apportioned to the State Roads Commission in
the same manner and for the same purposes as
that provided in the Budget applicable to the fiscal
years 1942 and 1943.
