CHAPTER 223.
(House Bill 395)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections
313, 314 and 315 of Article 23 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Wicomico County",
sub-title "Salisbury", providing that all city taxes, special
assessments, water rents and other public charges due to
the City of Salisbury be paid before property shall be trans-
ferred on the assessment books or deed conveying the same
be recorded.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land,
That Sections 313, 314 and 315 of Article 23 of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Wi-
comico County", sub-title "Salisbury", be and the same are
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as
follows:

313. No deed or deeds conveying real estate or chattels real,
situated or located within the corporate limits of the City of
Salisbury, in Wicomico County, Maryland, shall be admitted
to record among the Land Records of the Circuit Court for
said county until the property thereby conveyed or assigned
has been duly transferred upon the city assessment books in
the office of the Mayor and Council of Salisbury to the grantee
or assignee named in such deed.

314. Before such property shall be transferred on the said
assessment books, all city taxes, special assessments, water
rents and other public charges due to the City of Salisbury
for the current year and all prior years must be paid, and as
evidence of such payment, the Clerk of Salisbury shall stamp
upon said deed his certificate thereof.

315. The Clerk of Salisbury shall further certify the fact of
said transfer upon the deed, and the Clerk of the Circuit
Court shall not record or accept for record any deed without
the certificates of the Clerk of Salisbury as prescribed by this
section and by Section 314.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1939.
