missioners of each county in the State of the "overhead"
charges for construction work done within said county, and a
similar report to the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore of
the "overhead" charges for construction work done within said
city.
32. The Legislature of the State of Maryland hereby as-
sents to the provisions of the Act of Congress, approved July
eleven, nineteen hundred and sixteen, entitled "An Act to pro-
vide that the United States shall aid the States in the con-
struction of rural post roads, and for other purposes, " thirty-
ninth United States Statutes at Large, page three hundred and
fifty-five. The State Roads Commission (being the Highway
Department of the State of Maryland) is hereby authorized to
enter into all contracts and agreements with the United States
Government relating to the construction and maintenance of
rural post roads under the provisions of the said Act of Con-
gress, to submit such scheme or program of construction and
maintenance as may be required by the Secretary of Agricul-
ture, and do all other things necessary fully to carry out the
co-operation contemplated and provided for by the said Act.
The good faith of the State is hereby pledged to make avail-
able funds sufficient to equal the sums apportioned to the State
by or under the United States Government during each year
for which Federal funds are appropriated by the said Act,
and to maintain the roads constructed under the provisions of
the said Act, and to make adequate provisions for carrying
out such maintenance.
33. Upon the request of the Board of County Commis-
sioners of any county, the State Roads Commission shall fur-
nish said board with plans and plats showing how the county
road system of said county may best be improved as a con-
comitant to the State system. Said plan shall suggest an
annual programme of county construction, based upon the
county funds available for construction, and shall further sug-
gest the types of roads to be built and furnish estimates of
the cost thereof.
34. The State Roads Commission of Maryland is hereby
authorized and empowered to join with the State Highway
Commission of Virginia to purchase and acquire the inter-
state highway bridge and approaches over the Potomac River
