Commissioners are authorized to expend the sum of three
hundred dollars ($300. 00) per annum for maintenance and
upkeep of an automobile to be used by the Chief of Police
and the sum of sixty dollars ($60. 00) per annum for uni-
forms to be worn as the County Commissioners may pre-
scribe for the said Chief of Police. That the Chief of Police
as aforesaid, shall have control and supervision over the
other members of the police force and shall assign mem-
bers of said force to such duties, and to such hours
as he may think proper, subject, however, at all
times to such rules, orders and regulations as the County
Commissioners may from time to time prescribe or ordain.
5. The County Commissioners shall designate two of
said police officers, so appointed, as Sergeants of the Prince
George's County Police, at a salary of one thousand seven
hundred ten dollars ($1, 710. 00) per annum each, payable in
equal monthly instalments, and no other fees or compensa-
tion whatsoever, except that in addition to the salary afore-
said, the said Commissioners are authorized to expend the
sum of three hundred dollars ($300. 00) per annum for
maintenance and upkeep of an automobile to be used by
each of the said Sergeants of Police and the sum of sixty
dollars ($60. 00) per annum for uniforms to be worn, as the
County Commissioners may from time to time prescribe or
ordain.
6. The other Constables at Large, and so appointed,
shall each receive a salary of one thousand four hundred
and twenty-five dollars ($1, 425. 00) per annum, payable in
equal monthly instalments, and no other fees or compensa-
tion whatsoever, except, however, that in addition to the
salary aforesaid, those so appointed, shall receive the sum
of sixty dollars ($60. 00) per annum for uniforms to be worn
as the County Commissioners may prescribe, in lieu of all
other expenses to the County, except that the County Com-
missioners are authorized to expend the sum of three hun-
dred dollars ($300. 00) per annum for the maintenance and
upkeep of each motorcycle or other motor vehicle to be
furnished by the County Commissioners in such number
as in their discretion may be necessary.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is
hereby declared to be an emergency law and necessary for
the immediate preservation of the public health and safety,
and having passed by a yea and nay vote, supported by
three-fifths of all of the members elected to each of the
