88 LAWS OF MARYLAND. [CH. 58

Section to be known as Section 14A and to follow im-
mediately after Section 14 of said Article, authorizing
the remaining members of the Mayor and Aldermen of
the City of Annapolis to fill for the residue of the term
vacancies caused by the death, resignation, refusal to
serve, disqualification or removal out of the City of any
of its members and provided for its passage as an emer-
gency measure.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That a new Section be and it is hereby added to
Article 2 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1930 Edition), title "Anne Arundel County, " sub-title
"Annapolis, " to be known as Section 14A, to follow imme-
diately after Section 14 of said Article and to read as
follows:

14A. In case of the death, resignation, refusal to serve,
disqualification or removal out of the City of any of the
members of the Corporation, a majority of the remaining
members shall fill the vacancy for the residue of the term.

SEC. 2 And be it further enacted, That all Acts or
parts of Acts inconsistent with the provisions of this Act
be and they are hereby repealed to the extent of such in-
consistency.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That the words
"Mayor and Aldermen of the City of Annapolis, " as used
herein, are intended to describe and designate the municipal
corporation of the City of Annapolis whether the same be
styled "Mayor and Aldermen of the City of Annapolis" or
"Mayor, Counselor and Aldermen of the City of Annap-
olis, " and this Act shall not be declared invalid merely be-
cause the said municipal corporation of the City of Annap-
olis has been styled the "Mayor and Aldermen of the City
of Annapolis" instead of "Mayor, Counselor and Aldermen
of the City of Annapolis. "

SEC. 4. And be it further enacted. That this Act is
hereby declared to be an emergency law and necessary for
the immediate preservation of the public health and safety
and having been passed upon a yea and nay vote supported
by three-fifths of all the members elected to each of the
two Houses of the General Assembly, the same shall take
effect from the date of its passage.
