SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1935.

CHAPTER 395.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section
46A of Article 97 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1924 Edition), title "Weights and Measures, " sub-title
"Cantaloupes, " as said section was enacted by Chapter
404 of the Acts of 1933, prohibiting the transportation of
cantaloupes in closed containers unless said cantaloupes
are mature.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 46A of Article 97 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1924 Edition), title "Weights and
Measures, " sub-title "Cantaloupes, " as said section was en-
acted by Chapter 404 of the Acts of 1933, be and the same
is hereby amended to read as follows:
46A. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, cor-
poration, partnership or other association to buy, sell, ship,
transport, offer or expose for sale or shipment, or place
upon the market, for human consumption, any cantaloupes
in closed containers, unless said cantaloupes are mature;
and that mature in the case of cantaloupes shall mean that
the appearance of the outside indicates maturity, and the
arils which surround the seed during the development of
maturity have been absorbed and, in addition, that the
juice of the edible portion shall contain not less than eight
per cent, soluble solids as determined by the Balling or
Brix scale hydrometer.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1935.
