269. The Governor shall appoint a Board of Barber Ex-
aminers for the State of Maryland. The Board shall consist
of three members, each of whom shall be practical barbers
who have followed the occupation of a barber in the State
of Maryland for at least five years immediately prior to his
appointment, and each of whom shall serve for a term of
four years from the date when his appointment shall take
effect, except in the case of an appointment to fill a vacancy.
The members of the present Board of Barber Examiners
created by Chapter 226 of the Acts of 1904, shall hold
office as the Board created hereunder until the expiration
of their respective terms.

270. Said Board so appointed and its successors shall be
known by the name of "Board of Barber Examiners of the
State of Maryland. " Every person so appointed to serve on
said Board shall receive a certificate of his appointment
from the Governor of the State of Maryland, and within ten
days after receiving such a certificate shall take, subscribe,
and file in the office of the Secretary of State the constitu-
tional oath of office.

271. Each member of said Board shall receive as com-
pensation the sum of fifteen hundred dollars ($1500. 00) per
year and in addition their hotel expenses not to exceed four
dollars ($4. 00) per day, travelling expenses not to exceed
five cents ($. 05) per mile, said hotel and travelling expenses
only when it is necessary for said Board or for any member
thereof, to be out of town for exclusive business in the dis-
charge of the provisions of this sub-title, said moneys to be
paid at the discretion of the Board only from any moneys
in the hands of said Board collected in and from the admin-
istration of this sub-title and upon the approval of the State
Comptroller. Said Board shall serve in the administering of
this sub-title as inspectors each week-day from 9 A. M. to
5 P. M. and on Saturdays 9 A. M. to 1 P. M. excluding all
legal holidays.

272. The first meeting of said Board shall be held within
ten days after their appointment as aforesaid, at a time
and place to be fixed by the majority thereof, who shall give
suitable notice thereof to all members of said Board. At
such meeting the Board may adopt a common seal, and
shall elect from its members a President, Secretary and a
Treasurer. The Treasurer shall receive all fees paid for li-
censes or certificates, and shall keep a record thereof and
disbursements of said Board in a book to be kept for that
