CHAPTER 352.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Sections
2 and 4 of Chapter 189 of the Acts of 1931, as repealed
and re-enacted by Chapter 173 of the Acts of 1933, in-
creasing the annual appropriation for the Prince
George's County Volunteer Fire Association and the
bond of the Treasurer thereof.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Sections 2 and 4 of Chapter 189 of the
Acts of 1931, as repealed and re-enacted by Chapter 173
of the Acts of 1933, be and they are hereby repealed and
re-enacted with amendments to read as follows:
2. The County Commissioners of Prince George's
County be and they are hereby authorized and directed
to appropriate and levy annually the sum of sixteen
thousand five hundred dollars ($16, 500) for the use
of the Prince George's County Volunteer Fire Associa-
tion. Said sum shall be paid annually to the Treasurer of
said Association and fifteen hundred dollars ($1500) there-
of shall be disbursed by him in equal shares to the Rescue
Squads of Bladensburg, Glendale and Upper Marlboro and
said total sum of sixteen thousand five hundred dollars
($16, 500) shall be disbursed by him only on order of the
Board of Directors of said Association to the member com-
panies, departments or rescue squads of said Association,
only for the purpose of purchasing, repairing and main-
taining apparatus and equipment; provided, however, that
no payment shall be made to any company or department
which has any resolution or regulation limiting the terri-
tory within which it will respond to calls and provided fur-
ther that before any new volunteer fire association, com-
pany or corporation shall share in said appropriation, said
association, company or corporation must receive the ap-
proval of the County Commissioners. Before the County
Commissioners shall be required to pay the aforesaid sum
of money to the said Fire Association, the said Commis-
sioners shall have the power to require the officers of said
Association to appear before them and show to the satis-
faction of said Commissioners that all sums of money paid
by the said Commissioners to the said Association under
this Act have been expended for the purposes set forth in
this Act, and also that all member companies are active
fire fighting or rescue squad organizations with equipment
in proper working order.
