sion of Maryland, October 28, 1920, and is recorded in Rec-
ord of Corporations No. 3, folio 377, one of the corporation
records in the office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court for
Frederick County, and
WHEREAS the members of said Chamber of Commerce
receive no compensation or profit therefrom, but on the
contrary are frequently required to incur considerable
expense to properly promote the objects of said Corpora-
tion, and
WHEREAS said Corporation was organized and is being
operated for municipal and public purposes, not as a pri-
vate corporation, but for the sole purpose of carrying out
the public and municipal purposes mentioned and described
in its Charter, and
WHEREAS The Frederick Chamber of Commerce, Incor-
porated, believes that with an annual appropriation, of such
sum as the Mayor and Aldermen of Frederick, in its dis-
cretion may desire to appropriate, not exceeding however
the sum of Three Thousand Dollars, in any one year, it
will be better able to promote the economic, civic and social
welfare of the people of Frederick City, therefore,
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Mayor and Aldermen of Frederick, a
municipal corporation of the State of Maryland, be and it
is hereby authorized and empowered, in its discretion, to
levy annually, with full power to provide for the collection
of the same, a sum of money not exceeding Three Thousand
Dollars, per annum, and to pay over the same to the Fred-
erick Chamber of Commerce, Incorporated, a body corpo-
rate of the State of Maryland, to be applied by it for the
purpose of promoting the economic, civic and social wel-
fare of the people of Frederick City, for public or municipal
purposes.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the Mayor and
Aldermen of Frederick is hereby authorized and empow-
ered to levy upon the assessable property, subject to taxa-
tion in Frederick, all amounts sufficient to produce such
sum of money at the Mayor and Aldermen of Frederick
may choose to appropriate to carry out the provisions of
this Act, with full power to provide for the collection of
the same as other taxes are collected.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1935.
