CHAPTER 338.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section
70 of Article 20 of the Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1930 Edition), title "Somerset County, " sub-title "Cris-
field, " relating to the clerk, treasurer and collector of
Crisfield.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 70 of Article 20 of the Public Local
Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Somerset County, "
sub-title "Crisfield, " be and it is hereby repealed and re-
enacted with amendments to read as follows:

70. The said clerk, treasurer and collector, or any of
them, before entering upon the performance of the duties
of his office, shall take and subscribe an oath before the
Mayor or a justice of the peace residing in said city that
he will well and faithfully perform the duties of his office
according to law and the ordinance of said city, which oath
is to be returned to the Council and recorded as the oaths
of other officers, which oath, record of same or a copy
thereof is hereby made evidence in any court of this State.
The collector shall give bond to the State of Maryland in
the amount of ten thousand dollars ($10, 000. 00) with
a fidelity or surety company qualified to act as surety
or guaranty under the laws of the State of Maryland as
surety, conditioned that he will well and faith-
fully perform the duties of collector of taxes in
all things according to law and the ordinance of
the city, and that he will well and truly collect
the taxes levied for the use of said City of Crisfield
and account for and pay over all moneys that may come into
his hands as collected in the manner and as required by
law, and said ordinance. Said bond shall be paid for by the
Mayor and Council. The clerk and treasurer, if not also
collector, shall give bond in the penalty of ten thousand dol-
lars ($10, 000. 00) with a similar surety, and if the same per-
son shall be appointed as clerk, treasurer and collector,
then the said offices shall all be combined and named in said
bond and included in its penalty, as above provided. The
said bond or bonds shall be approved by the Council and
spread upon its minutes, and then delivered, with the ap-
proval indorsed thereon, to the Clerk of the Circuit Court
for Somerset County for record, a certified copy of the
same from the record to be evidence, in any court of this
State. If appointee shall fail or neglect to give satisfactory
