the law of the State of Maryland. The registration offi-
cers shall register all citizens of the town of twenty-one
years and upwards so applying, who at the time of appli-
cation may possess the qualifications necessary to entitle
them to register as legally qualified voters of the State of
Maryland, and who in addition thereto shall have resided
in said town for at least six months immediately preceding
such application for registration.
The registration of voters so made shall be entered upon
books duly provided by the Mayor and Town Council for
the purpose, which shall be kept in the custody of the town
clerk, and shall be open to public inspection at all reason-
able times, subject to regulation by the Mayor and Town
Council, if considered advisable by that body, and from
such books the election officers shall conduct the annual
elections.
Except where otherwise expressly provided, or where
undoubtedly inconsistent or inoperative, the provisions and
procedure of the Laws of the State of Maryland in regard
to Elections shall apply to the town elections herein pro-
vided.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That a new section
be and the same is hereby added to Article 17 of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"Prince George's County, " sub-title "Edmonston, " said new
section to be known as Section 417A and to follow imme-
diately after Section 417 of said Article and to read as
follows:
417A. It shall not be lawful for any member of the
Town Council, the Mayor and the Town Treasurer of the
Town of Edmonston, during his or her term of office, to be
a party to, or to hold, possess, purchase or acquire any
share or interest in any agreement or contract made, en-
tered into, or concluded with any party or parties, corpo-
rations or persons, whomsoever, by the Mayor and Town
Council of Edmonston, in their character and capacity as
such, or to have, receive, enjoy or participate, either di-
rectly or indirectly, in any of the benefits, profits or emol-
uments of any such agreement or contract. Any Mayor,
Councilman or Treasurer, who shall violate the aforesaid
provisions during his term of office, shall forthwith forfeit
his office and his vacancy shall be filled by the Mayor and
Town Council. He further shall be subject to indictment,
as provided by law, and upon conviction shall further for-
feit and pay over to the Town of Edmonston his share or
